Several years ago a man was born

He learned about freedom but his heart was torn

He grow up knowing that life wasn't fair

He was a mixed breed in a time that just didn't care

He always looked to a Country that said

Bring us Your poor on a Lady that Stands

On a pedestal in New York with her head held high

A Lady who stands for a Country so Dear

So for years he belived with all of his heart

This country will never let pain touch its heart

He joined the service to make sure of this

His father was murdered when he first joined

He sworn that his death would not go unsworn

It helped that the shooter was killed in the act

But the heart break was all the new soldier could hack

He did his duty and stood on the force

But he cried so dearly for what he had lost.

Life wasn't easy but he didn't expect to be

Then dessert Storm came calling for he

He lost many friends and he almost died

He sometimes wonders why he is still alive

Then one day it finally happened

Then 9-11 changed that pattern

He remembered why he signed the papers

He remember why he chose the danger

A battled hadn't been fought near his home

Because men like him were duty born

Men like him had sworn to protect

All of the people who with honor and respect

The murder of my father hurt me dearly and it's a pain that doesn't heal with time. 9-11 feels almost the same. We lost many many people who I still wish I could have saved. I know in my heart were my duty and Honor stays. May we and the future never forget.

Tony, my brother, I too felt the pain on 9/11 ans still have it in my heart. We had an airshow this weekend and they did a 9/11 tribute to include broadcasting some of the radio traffic from that terrible day. I looked at the person next to me and said I wish they would turn that off.....as I had tears in my eyes. My life, along with so many others changed on that day. The one factor on that day was that we would carry on, do what we do and continue doing what we do instead of letting the terrorists win by scaring us into hiding in our houses. We will not, not ever, allow the way of the coward to run our lives, to win this fight.

Please know, when you think of your father, I stand next to you in support.

My sincerest sympathies for your loss. I am so very sorry....

I lost a childhood friend from the towers and two people that were friends of my mom/family. All of them were wonderful lovely people. I stand with you in support as well.

As a personnel rule I would normally say Thanks you to everyone separately but today I hope none of you mind if I just say thank you to everyone with this one comment. My reason is a simple one. When I sat down to write this one I had to deal with my own memories and I wanted others to feel comfortable expressing their own. This one is for that and for Respect of those memories.

Even though I was born and raised a Jersey girl, I had many fond memories in New York and also lived in Long Island and worked in Manhattan. 911 will always be a reflective day for me and many others. My cousin was working near the towers when they collapsed and although she made it out of NY unharmed, it worried all of us when we couldn't reach her that day. My thoughts are always with those who lost a friend or family member and in support of those who showed bravery and united to help others in need. I am sorry for your loss, Tony.

Sorry about your dad Tony. 9/11 is a day that I will never recover from. I'm not sure I want to, at least not to the point of not feeling anything about it. My husband was in the Pentagon that day. For more than a year my family hardly ever saw him. In the midst of all that stress, tragedy and loss, my life changed for the better. I have a serious melt down every year about this time, but every year my mourning is replaced with renewed joy for my life. I know some people are not so lucky as me, I think that's why I have a melt down and a phase of mourning. For all those still suffering the anguish of that day, I truly hope you will soon find a brighter future. All of America is still mourning with you.
