Grim Reaper

I had a visitor today and a scary site to see

His hands where bones, he wore all black, and just a skull under his hoodie.

He said no need to worry

It's not your time to go.

I just came by to say Thank You for your wish that's been bestowed.

You wish to end the fighting

You wish for only Joy

Your wish has just been granted

So today no-one will go.

Go where I asked in my stupor

And you know what he replied.

Oh silly man with me of course on to the other side.

With the fighting stopped and so much joy

today no-one will die

I finally get to take a break and I have only you to Thank

An Thank you he replied.

Since I got this job I haven't had a rest

Look at me I'm only bones in my rush from East to West.

So I just stopped in to give my Thanks for giving me a break

This gig has has cost me oh so much and I can't remember the last time I ate.

So today I'm going to eat and rest

It's just something I must do

But since I have only you to thank I thought I might join you.

We had sandwhiches an tea an cake and then he took a nap

His last words to me before he slept where

I really needed that.

So today no-one will die and all because of a wish

A simple wish I made this very day.

A wish that became a gift.

I wished for World Happiness

I wished for a world of joy

I wished for one day without sorrow for all the world to know.

Thought I'd have a bit of fun with Death. Someday we all have a date with him but wouldn't it be nice to know he really isn't all that scary :)

That was great! Creepy picture, but great. lol What a unique thought. I suppose he would need a break. Talk about a job that's never ending. :)

Thanks :)

Had to find the picture on line and it was the only one that came close to looking like "OH Man give me a break".

It is a great wish. You put it together so poetically...that's what it's all about

Thank You :)

Now if we could just get it to come true...well maybe not the part about sitting down to tea but a day where nobody in the world died would be one for the History books.

Yea, that would make a bit of a mess...

So true and most of that mess would most likely be in my pants upon opening the door :)

Tony-excellent article. What made you think of this particular avenue for death to take a break?

Thanks :)

To be honest it was several things that gave me the idea. The surgery I had a few days before my birthday, I lost a good friend a short while back, and before him my cousin Peter. Then I was thinking about my God-Son who will be returning from Afghanistan (getting married a month later) and my Nephew who will be leaving for Afghanistan in September.

Then I thought about the things I've been through in this life and how strongly I still believe in Peace. Being a Vet and a Fighting Man I still have that strong feeling that one day all of this fighting will end and that we will all learn to work together. What better way to make a friend than to all find that one thing to celebrate at the same time.

Finally as I was trying to think of how to tie it all together but into a positive message I remembered that Scene in the show "Super Natural" where Death is having lunch and gives Dean his ring. Should have seen me sitting at my lap top. Dude I laughed so hard at myself my wife was ready to call the straight jacket police and all because I was surprised I hadn't thought of it sooner :) even my dog looked at me funny.

I remember that scene! My wife and I are both aficionados of the show. Good luck to both your nephew and god-son. We have a close friend of the family deployed right now (Air Force, but attached to an Army unit)-he's never far from my mind.

Thanks for the refreshing look!

Someday it may come true. All we can do is hope and the light of hope will remain our guide to a more beautiful tomorrow.
