I Dreamed

I dreamed of a world at peace

The guns had grown silent and the violence had ceased.

I dreamed of a world gone green

No more pollution the air and seas where clean.

I dreamed of a world united

Working together instead of divided.

I dreamed of great ships that traveled the stars

Our working together had taken us far.

I dreamed of healthy people

No sickness, no drug addicts, and no crippled or feeble.

I dreamed I watch the children playing

Acceptance and friendship the words of the day.

I knew I was dreaming but I didn't care

I just wanted to keep dreaming and never leave there.

Sadly I did just because I awoke

Back to reality and this sad little joke.

Sad I say because we still have war.

Sadder still because of the waste

Oil slicks on beaches and animals dead in it's wake.

The high rates of crime and murder we find

The low rate of caring people on-line.

What I wouldn't give to be back in the dream

If only you could see the wonders I'd seen.

A world full of beauty

A world full of joy

A world full of wonders for all to enjoy.

It was a perfect world

It was a world that was grand

It's the world this could be if only hatred would end.

When I think about how the world is today and how much more it could it's always the words above that come to me. It's a vision of this place when racism has be laid to rest. When we put aside are differences there can be no limit to the things we can aaccomplish.

Tony, check the words to John Lennon`s song, Imagine. In reality, peace, and no racism will still exist, but it is a nice dream.

Tony, when I was in Vietnam, sung that song silently to myself.

I joined the Air Force just before the first Gulf War. I had a few songs I did the same thing with during that time. It help when ever I had doubts or began to feel afraid (funny thing is I was never afraid for me but for those around me and my family back home..guess I just missed them a great deal ).

I Thank you for your service and for keeping the faith. I thank you for making it back to us safe.

Sounds like exactly the thing that would happen if people would follow the teachings of Jesus. But, that would make them Christians and everyone knows that Christianity is evil. Oh well, maybe next time you can dream about Lindsay Lohan.

Lisa Stansfield beats out Lindsay in my book but the wife would kill me either way :)

I guess your dream is everyone's dream ... you have just expressed everyone's desire. Dreams are what give us a reason for going on :-)

Iam not into poems but the title tickled my curiosity ... its a good poem. :-)

Expression of my feelings never use to come easy to me. Guess the old saying about age and wisdom really does mean something.

I try to and if not a poem at least a short story to brighten the day. Can't read bad news all the time and a little humor can be just the thing to make a bad day better. Besides my grand daughter spent the day with us and she is the reason I wrote "It's Life". She wanted to know how I always seem to stay in a good mood :)
