Life isn't fair. Well OK that's a given but sometimes life puts things in front of us which really makes you go W.T.F. is wrong with you/he/she/them/it. Sometimes it's something someone says or does that can set us off. Sometimes it's the fact that nobody did anything (stop to help at an accident for example). Sometimes it's an attitude someone else has or how they eat with their mouth open. From little things to big things I'm sure there are lots of things which really set some of us off.

Well here is your chance to list any of your all time favorite I can't stand items. Just try to leave out politics as I'm working on one for that subject by itself an it includes a poll. Everything else is fair game. Books, music, racist, food, sports, hobbies, cars, animals, words, our people who do certain things which makes you want to grab them by the neck.

For me racism is a big big extremely freaking huge problem. I don't want to hear it, I won't use it except to point out how people sound when they do, and I won't allow it around me. Next would be snobs. You know the type who act like their Gods gift and nobody else deserves to breathe the air in the room with them. If that ain't a butt waiting to be kicked I don't know what one is. Then there are those who break the Law. If your a rapist, if your a thief, if you think shooting someone is no big deal, and if you stole the ID of somebody then I've got two words for ya...DROP DEAD! Not only do I mean that from the heart but after having had my ID stolen once an my credit almost trashed I'd be more than willing to help you earn a Darwin Award.

Anyway that's enough about what gets me P.O.'d to the point where my stress level has me seeing red so what about you? I know I'm not the only who owns the prayer:

God grant me the courage to change the things that I can change, the wisdom to accept the things that I cannot change, and the strength to hide the bodies of those who pissed me off today.

Who knows maybe what sets you off is the same thing someone you've gotten into a heated debate with can agree on because it makes them mad. Maybe something your going through that gets your blood boiling is happening to someone else or has happened and they can tell you how they handled it. What ever happens I have a feeling we will all find that we agree on a lot more than we disagree with. Not to mention that getting it out there is like therapy. So feel free to have fun with it.

I am probably one of those who tries to "ruin" some holidays...........I won't justify my position here.

OK, maybe just a little. I just can't stand it when Christmas music starts playing in October prior to Halloween!! Then I feel like I am going to really "lose it" by December. I like Christmas Eve and Christmas, and the music played on those 2 days only. But, not many would agree with me, so it plays at work, at shopping centers, grocery stores, all over!! But, never in our house, my husband can't stand it either...........nice to meet you anyway, Tony!!

OK I can live with that because it does kinda annoy me when it starts before Thanks Giving (for crying out loud I haven't had my turkey yet or enjoyed that Holiday). My real beef is the removing Christ from Christmas and those pesky I gotta sue for everything idiots. What the hell is wrong with letting people enjoy being nice to others without the fear of being sued? As the "Family Guy" would say "That really grinds my gears".

I don't like the sue happy people either. But a lot of people just go waaaaay overboard on the Christmas holiday. After a week or so, it really does become sort of a nuisance. It starts to go far beyond just "letting people enjoy being nice". It invades nearly every piece of your life for about a month.

One of my WTF issues is seeing the "HISTORY channel" doing Christian/Catholic or Bible related topics. THE HISTORY CHANNEL!! WTF??

I noticed this after 9/11. Boy this really gets me. HISTORY? Really? on the HISTORY Channel right there with WWI & WWII ...and then they show ....David & GOLIATH? WTF??Give me a f*ing break people!

PS: I'm Christian, Baptized & raised Catholic.

Thanks for the topic Tony!

Both the History channel and Discovery pander to viewers instead of making real and educational science shows. The shroud of Turin and Nostradamus gets more ratings in their mind. Seconded on that pissed off.

What pisses me off?

No music on MTV.

Excessive philosophical blabber: "Are our senses real? Is reality real? Do we exist? Is this the Matrix?" Just assume it's real, you live in it with no choice in the matter, things work, get on with life, and stop wasting oxygen. Yeah, it's a great thought exercise. Don't make a point of exercising in public.

The shroud of Turin and Nostradamus are at least REAL. they exited in fact. Giving into the FAITH of either is subjective I agree, but they are actual HISTORICAL factuall things that had a physical touchable basis of existance to beging with.

History should be treated with all the propriety of science, not with the "belief" of a religion or spiritual experience.

The Bible is in no way shape or form PROOF of HISTORY by any standard. But I as a Christian believe it makes for a good read.

That's a tuff call. Some will take it on faith and some not at all unless science can explain it. Turin for example still can't be explained because the image is only on one side and doesn't really penetrate it like a dye would. They way it was created still can't be explained given what we know of that era.

Racism of course.

A huge biggie is being judged by those that believe they know me when they don't. I cannot judge a person who they are in passing or by Net posts such as NV. When that happens, I get pissed because I don't do that to others.

People who have knee jerk reactions against something even when they know very little about it, or are acting upon something someone else "told them was true." Also people who get angry when you ask them why they believe something. Selfish people who are self absorbed and wouldn't pee in someone's ear if their brains were on fire, and people who judge others based solely upon looks, material things they own, or money they make, all of which are small, mostly unimportant things that don't have much bearing on who we really are.

P.S. Also people who clog up the toilet and leave it for me to plunge, and very hairy long haired cats on my suede couch.

That knee jerk stuff is often that stuff of prejudice and racism and many -isms. As for judging, there are plenty people on the Net and even here on NV that judge based on posts and/or political beliefs alone and, in all honesty, they can't. No one can truly know me nor anyone based on posts nor political opinions without knowing them in real life first and foremost, and I apply the same to others. I may not like their political beliefs but that doesn't mean they aren't good people..

Judge lest you not be judged

To Kate in Greensboro, a good guideline to follow about any food substance is 'the more it is processed in any way the farther it is from natural and most processing usually involves somebody's chemistry set.' In short you are ingesting substances that are not normally meant to be consumed, often are not easily metabolized by our bodies, and sometimes even pose health risks such as being toxic or carcinogenic. Even the time honored process of smoking meat, for example, adds potential toxins in the form of by products from the smouldering wood used for the smoking process. Even so I still eat it with abandon. Heaven forbid I should have to give up my smoked meats and cheeses. LOL

Now, that being said, I am not suggesting that anyone spend the rest of their lives eating only fresh, whole, natural, and totally organic foods. This simply isn't practical in today's world. It is also very expensive since they tend to charge more for the stuff that costs less to produce. (??) Ah yes, the old rule of supply and demand. LOL

All we can do is to simply be aware of what is in our food and use some discretion. Chances are if you can't pronounce most of the ingredients in it you may not want to eat it. HEH HEH HEH HEH Another good rule of thumb is to simply practice moderation. Make your diet as diverse as possible, buy fresh when you can, and try and avoid the temptation to glut on any particular item like the dark chocolate cake with double fudge icing on it. :=))

Now, redphish on the topic of beer I do rather enjoy the taste of it. I don't drink it a lot but when I do I actually crave the taste. Also some foods just aren't the same without a nice cold beer like pizza, sauerbraten, or really good Polish sausages and brats. LOL However I must agree when it comes to near beer, as we used to call it, and the decaffinated coffee. These are nothing more than lackluster substitues that simply taste flat when compared to the real thing. Kind of like sex with a condom. :=)) Also the chemicals and processes used to extract the offending element often are more hazardous than the real thing.

This brings up another topic. When you see any product that says "NEW AND IMPROVED" or "REFORMULATED" you had best check the ingredients and the weight or quantity of the new product. Chances are you are being ripped off in one way or another and maybe even poisoned. HEH HEH HEH HEH

I will have to concede to your argument. There are some dishes that do cry out for a good beer to go along. There is nothing like a good Irish stew and a Guinness although, I pity the fool that tries to market an NA Guinness in Ireland. ;)

HA HA HA HA Yup. Soooo true. Talk about weak and insipid. LOL We Americans have to 'regulate' everything in life that is good or maybe a little sinful. Seems our leaders don't think we can handle it. HEH HEH HEH HEH Disclaimer: THAT WAS NOT A POLITICAL REMARK. Just a casual observation of fact. LOL In most of Europe one can eat, drink, and 'see Mary' down at the local brothel without having the experience 'filtered through a strainer and excessive water added.' :=))

We don't even have to mention stuff that is ordinarily considered sinful like drugs or hookers that we, as Americans, are "protected" from. Some of the best cheeses in Europe and clotted cream from England are not allowed here because they are made from *gasp* unpasteurised milk.

It costs more to produce because the yield from organic farming is far less than from chemically assisted farming. As much as we hate the idea of pesticides, herbicides, etc., they result in more food/acre, thus organic requires much more land (and thus, cost).

Well one way to cut the cost is home grown. Walmart, Walgreen's, CVS, and other stores sale the hanging baskets of tomatoes, strawberries, and peppers. Plus their are herbal indoor small gardens (those even come in chi ea pets). If you have 3 windows with good sunlight then those are items you'll never have to purchase again. I'm pretty sure there are other veggies and you'll never have to worry about additives.

Kate that does seem to be a common argument in favor or chemically assisted farming. However I stem from a family who spent much of their lives in agribusiness. We raised beef, hogs, soybeans, and corn primarily. We tried both methods and found that the difference was marginal. Yes we did get less yield in the non treated fields and from the untreated livestock but where it showed up was in the margin at sell time. The difference in volume from the treated product versus the non-treated product was off set by the cost of production. Our greatest cost savings came from the advent of 'no-till' farming and in doggedly adhering to proper crop rotation techniques. Fuel and fertilizer costs dropped considerably. Yes we still had to utilize some herbacides to keep down the weeds in our fields but you had to do that anyway.

Agribusiness always has been and always will be a very sketchy way to make a living but the life style is the best in my humble opinion. LOL Also, from a different perspective, I find that the products that come from the chemically enhanced methods simply don't taste as good and vibrant as those that come from heirloom species raised as close to organically as possible. But who am I to say. I am just prejudiced. LOL

shepherd - I'm on your side (I wish Monsanto and its competitors had to find other product lines), but the position of the agrichemical industry is that there will simply not be enough food to feed the world population without them. It's not about the farmer getting a return on his investment, it's about there being enough food for everyone.

No disagreement from me on that video. It's the same old worn out crap that because you can't prove it through science it's not real. Faith is something you have or you don't. Those that have it say live and let live while those that don't want to put you down for believing their is so much more. I hate to break it to most of them but if you don't believe there is more to learn then why teach? I can't explain EVP's unless I accept that something is going on an set out to find the answer.

Actually I rarely get pissed off. I call them pet peeves like missing a three foot putt or the line breaking on a large fish after you have been fishing all day and finally hooked one.

Rainy days after you just cleaned your clubs up and got your favorite slack back from the cleaners.

Waiting all day for one of your favorite TV show and finding it is a rerun.

Reading the same anti this or that lines over and over on newsvine.

I look at these things as good things because after these things happen the good things that happen after them are brighter and seem to last longer.

I agree with many other posters on this discussion...racism, misogyny, willful ignorance, hypocrisy, deliberate lying....much of which we actually encounter here on Newsvine, unfortunately. I don't tolerate it in my personal life, but if I want to be a part of the Newsvine community I have to figure out how to deal with those people who include racism, misogyny, willful ignorance, hypocrisy, and deliberate lying in their posts on a regular basis...mostly by putting them on ignore or avoiding seeds where they are running wild. On the other hand, I have many friends on Newsvine who also hate those things and I enjoy my conversations with them.

I makes me angry when someone does not even listen to the points made and sticks to "their side" of the debate. You can present them with facts counter to their point and all you get is, "That doesn't apply" or, "that isn't true," with no example or reasoning behind their dismissal. It is like they are the final arbiter on all things factual or pertinent, your opinion or knowledge base be damned.

Anyone who sticks to a point so doggedly as to not admit the possibility of error might fit into the snob category... ...unsure.

It also pisses me off when people make assumptions based on little or no evidence what so ever.

What really makes you mad?

I'll just say "people". They are pretty much the root cause of everything that makes me angry.

To get more specific, though, noise. Noise REALLY pisses me off, especially low frequency sounds (bass).

It isn't just music, either, but screaming children, the constant drone of gas-powered tools in the neighborhood (and yes, all of the tools I use are either electric or manual, specifically because they're quieter), and the ever-so-annoying specialty exhaust systems that make tiny Honda Civics sound louder than 18-wheelers. Fireworks are a pain in my ass throughout June and July, as the hooligans that live near me seem to enjoy setting them off until 2am, even on nights when most people go to work the following day.

I would love to move to the middle-of-nowhere, and that just might be where my wife and I end up in a few years.

Two words: House Boat!

Neighbors piss you off you just pull up and move. Added plus: All the fishing a man could ever want to do can be done from the front or back porch and screw the game warden (unless he swims out to the boat).

That does indeed sound nice, especially fishing from the back porch :)

Don't know if I could stand the constant motion, though, especially if a storm moves through the area.

People who don't recognize my vast store of knowledge and innate superiority and refuse to automatically put my ideas into practice. . . . . . sigh. . . . . the discussion wastes so much time, doncha know? . . . . . Yes, I know, I have somewhat of a problem. :-(

Ignorance - it's the root of all that is wrong in the world and in our country.

Anyone who abuses an elderly person tops my list.

Child abusers are most often caught, because to see a baby or child with an inexplicable injury causes red flags to fly high immediately. The same for spousal abuse. I'm not saying that either of these horrendous acts are acceptable to me, quite the contrary. It's just that there have been many laws past recently protecting these innocents.

But what about the elderly? What about those frail individuals who are institutionalized in nursing homes across the country, with no family visiting regularly, left alone with "caretakers" who abuse, neglect, steal, and deliberately harm these innocents? Many are unable to communicate, either because of a medical condition or because of medications, yet they are aware and feel pain. It's sickening and it's wrong.

Senior citizens are OUR history, and as such, should be treated with love, respect, admiration and devotion. Their needs should not be ignored, because they might not remember who we are anymore.

Caretakers in this country do not have need to obtain a college degree to work with patients in a nursing home. They haven't been to nursing school or even medical school, yet they are allowed to have the most contact and the most opportunity to hurt and abuse or even just ignore their duties to their "patients".

So, elder abuse and neglect, makes me mad. Ignoring our living historical treasures breaks my heart.

Thank you for letting me vent.

Thank you, Gypsywych! You're very kind.

My great-grandmother was abused after having had two strokes and a heart attack. I will spend the rest of my life fighting for the rights of the elderly. I will stand up for them and be a voice when they can no longer speak.

If only more people like you and me noticed and remembered them.

Blessings to you!

Drivers who tail-gate.

Car trouble.

People who cuss in public.

Static electricity in my clothes.

Going to motor vehicles for any reason.

People who let their kids run in stores.

And, when I make myself late by fartin' around too long!

;o)

My list:

- Anti-choicers. I don't care what your view on abortion is. If you think it's wrong, fine. I have no problem with that. We all have different views and I respect that. What I DO have a problem with is people who feel that because THEY think it's wrong, EVERYONE should think it's wrong and be denied this medical procedure.

- Going along with that first one, doctors who refuse to sterilize people who don't want children because "you'll change your mind!" You are not me. You don't know my life or how I intend to live it. Don't tell me that you know me better than I know myself. Hell, we'd need less abortions if people who wanted to be sterilized were able to get those procedures.

- Animal abusers. Oh my God, when I hear of someone hurting an animal, I just fly into an incoherent rage. I cry at those SPCA commercials like a little sissy. I can't understand why someone would hurt an animal that loves them unconditionally and provides friendship.

- I know I'll catch heat for this one, but I can't stand people who think a crime is a million times more serious because a child was involved. A life is a life. No one deserves to be beaten, raped, or murdered, regardless of how old they are. I hate news articles that say, "Eight people, including a child, were killed." Forget the other people, right? Just harp on the child! Those other people didn't have lives or people who cared about them.

- And because I just got off the phone with the unemployment office not too long ago, I wish I could make it a federal law that when you call a business, they have to say at the very beginning of the call, "If you wish to speak to a person, press __." That way I don't have to sit through 20 minutes of insipid jabbering and be in a pissy mood by the time I talk to the person.

Plenty of things make me mad, but those are my "major psychotic f--king hatreds," in the words of the late George Carlin.

Geoge Carlin was one of the truly great thinkers of our time. He looked at many problems and in a crazy way, tried to solve them. He thought outside of the box, even if you couldn't agree with him.

Meg I'm with you on the phone thing. Especially when they lead you through a long convoluted series of options with 10 or 15 choices each only to arrive at a point that you realize that none of their 'choices' are what you are calling about. Then this cheerful voice says "Goodbye" and it hangs up on you. Argh!!!!! Ya feel like taking the phone receive or your cell and just beating it into smithereens.. LOL

Megidoloan - Your whole list.....

except the one about children. Children are small, more helpless than animals and are supposed to be able to trust adults to do the right thing. Anyone that hurts a child needs to be shot on sight. Multiple times. Like.....start with the toes, one at a time and work your way up.

Yeah.... child abusers ..... are the worst, ever.

People who cut me off on the interstate, and then give me the finger for honking at them. Excuse me. I was just driving! I'm not the one changing lanes every two seconds trying to get to the head of the line! And ......where exactly is the head of that line? 14 miles ahead. yeah.... good luck with that.

People who move to the south, and then spend hourssssss and hoursssssss telling me what's wrong with it and why where ever they lived up north was so much better. Sugah.... that interstate goes north at any time. Leave my sweet tea alone.

Cliff hangers on season finales. GRAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Here's my list

1. Angry, irrational, people who yell about things they have no clue about.

2. The destruction of journalistic integrity and standards.

3. People who drive below the speed limit in the left lane.

4. People who double park in front of a parking space (Should really be #1).

5. Parents who don't teach their children to behave in public.

6. People who talk and don't turn their cell phones off during the movie.

7. Red Sox fans who cry about the Yankees spending money, as if their owners need handouts to run the franchise.

8. The faux patriotism of the right since 9/11.

9. The possibility of a strike in the NFL in the next 2 years. How will I survive w/o football from September to February?

10. The current state of the news, where a story gets recycled over and over and over, on every network......until something new happens, whereby the old story is pretty much forgotten.
